The University Chronicles: My Final Offer!

I finally got my response from Exeter University! I was so surprised that they offered me a conditional place for ABB! I was so sure I would get a rejection as they are a really good Uni and have an amazing reputation. It had me confused for a while because I wasn't sure if I wanted to change Birmingham for Exeter as my insurance choice but I think I'm going to leave it as I like Birmingham more and the course seems better. I also think that Birmingham would be nicer as it's bigger so has more to explore!
Obviously I hope I get into Reading as it's easily my favourite course and University and the grades are only BBB (my insurance is being used incase I get higher than BBB...) so yeah...I'm super excited now! I just have to make sure I revise well and get the grades I need!
I can't wait to offically choose my offers on UCAS, it's so exciting!

Thursday thoughts.

Despite handing my English coursework in last Monday, life has still been trundling along at quite a relaxed pace with not a lot going on. I've figured out that going into college for first lesson and doing my homework there takes away a lot of unnecessary stress so I have time to read and do outside research and work for my subjects which is really great!

A few things that are/have been happening or running through my head recently:

- Just over a month until my birthday - I'm so excited but scared to turn 18!
- I can't wait to start Uni; I drive past Reading in my lessons so it's just out of reach taunting me!
- I get to go to the British Museum with my Classics class after half term and I can't wait!
- I had to go to the hospital for a diabetic check up yesterday and they told me I have the option to see a psychologist for my needle phobia which might be a good thing, I haven't decided yet.
- I've decided that when I get to Uni, I want flowers in my room. I don't have any in my room now and I think they're really pretty so I want some when I have a space that is 100% my own.
- I've finally got a proper, close group of friends and I couldn't be happier! I always feel a bit detached from friendship groups so it's nice to be able to get this now.
- My love for American sweets has been rekindled, I can't believe I forgot how good they are!
- My driving test is 4 weeks yesterday which is rather scary! I think I'm doing pretty well though and I hope I pass first time!
- I have to go back to Cardiff and Birmingham Unis within the next two months and I'm excited because I get to look around them again! It will be difficult to choose between them.
- I still haven't heard back from Exeter Uni which is really annoying...I don't want to go there and I have to wait for them to reply which is stopping me from being able to do anything with the rest of my choices! Even if I wanted to go there, I would be put off by now purely because they're being so long with choosing!

Hope you guys enjoyed reading this! It's nice to just put down my thoughts sometimes!

A Ray of Sunshine.

I got the best news today and it's made me happier than I've been for quite a while about my general school stuff!
I've been sure that I was predicted BBB since I started college but after tutor time today, I spoke to my teacher about my Uni choices and predicted grades, and it turns out that I'm actually predicted AAB!!! I was so shocked and happy because these grades mean that I have more of a chance of getting offers from most of my Uni choices!
I've been quite worried about not getting any offers so I'm really excited that if my personal statement goes well, I actually have a chance! My top three are Cardiff, Reading and Exeter so I should hopefully get the offers from them because their grades are lower which is great!
It's put me in such a good mood and it's inspired me to work even harder this year so I can achieve these grades!

The University Chronicles: The beginning!

This month, I've been over the whole country looking at Universities! I've only been to 4 and I've been to Devon, Berkshire (not really difficult as I live here...), the Midlands and County Durham. I've been to one of the most southern counties and one of the most northern, it's crazy but quite awesome because I get to see places I've never been before! Looking around Unis is so exciting but scary because it's another completely different step in life which is another step towards independence and 'real life'.
I've already said about Exeter and I'll say now that it's kept as the solid top choice of mine since!
We went to look at Birmingham next and it was so nice! It was really pretty and the course was fantastic! The only let down was the accommodation, which was no where near as nice as Exeter but actually more expensive.
Reading was the next on the list! I originally wasn't too sure about it because it's the closest big town to me and I've been there too many times to count so one of my main points for wanting to go to Uni (going away from home and exploring somewhere new) had already been smashed. However, we got there and it was really nice! The archaeology and ancient history buildings were lovely, the staff were enthusiastic and friendly and the course was really really nice! The accommodation blew the other two out of the water by miles, Birmingham by quite a bit more than Exeter still, though! The rooms were bigger, cheaper, cleaner and had so much more storage space! Reading is definitely second choice so far, I was pleasantly surprised!
Me and dad went to Durham last Monday and I can honestly say it was one of the most disappointing experiences of my life. The accommodation was horrific, the course was no where near the standard of the other three unis, the teachers made it seem like a priveledge to be accepted rather than them being enthusiastic about the course and wanting people to get in and it had a general air of snobiness about it. I've never hated somewhere so much in my life. It was a real shame though because the actual place was lovely, the university however, wasn't. I don't understand how it has the reputation is does really; the course wasn't worth the grades they were asking for and it just didn't seem like a nice place! I think it also doesn't help that I prefer campus unis and Durham is the only non-campus Uni I've seen. I've decided to not bother applying there and look for somewhere else to look instead. Definitely not somewhere I would want to spend 3 years of my life.
I have to wait until September to visit UCL and Bristol so it's not over yet! I'm pretty confident that Exeter will be my firm choice and Reading will be insurance choice though, they're both fantastic unis.
